This painting represents a number of Australian animals such as woylies, numbats, bandicoots, bilbies, quokkas, quolls and rock-wallabies with somewhat similar little facial features that are endangered or critically endangered.
Since European settlement and introduced predators, hundreds of species have become extinct in Australia. Today, nearly 1 in 3 of our unique mammals is at risk of extinction! Australia has an embarrassingly high number of species that are under threat and fewer than 40% of Australia’s threatened species have recovery plans in place.
WWF is one organisation working with other groups to try and save some of them. You can find more information about their efforts here. 50% of proceeds from the original and prints will go towards their conservation efforts.
